Psychotherapy is a controlled act in Ontario which means professionals require a license to perform it. I am a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and practice in accordance with their Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

Work Experience

My work has taken me halfway across Canada and back to my hometown of Owen Sound, Ontario with stops along the way in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, and Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Mental Health and Case Management

  • Mental health counsellor in an acute health care centre providing individual and group psychotherapy
  • Frontline harm reduction, addiction support, training related to addiction medicine and medically-supervised withdrawal management
  • Experience working collaboratively with colleagues at health centres in two separate First Nation reserves
  • Frontline crisis line operator
  • Youth in Transition worker providing mentorship to young people who were aging out of foster care.
  • Employment advisor providing career guidance, resumes, workshops and referrals to services for education, community support/financial assistance

Postsecondary Student Services

  • Oversaw a test and exam centre that administered over 2500 exams per year for students who required accommodations for a disability
  • Worked with the head of the Counselling department to run two “Introduction to University Study” courses for new students
  • Tutored international students and students who required assistance with learning strategies/learning disabilties
  • Practicum Advisor in the Field Training department of an online Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program

Nonprofit and Community Agencies

  • Lead English as a Second Language Instructor for a brand new Settlement Services program serving newcomers to Canada
  • Served on the Board of Directors of a resource centre for individuals with disabilities and an affordable housing agency as well as the city Library Board
  • Have secured over $2 million in grant funding for agencies serving individuals with disabilities, mental health training for frontline university staff, and addictions programming on two First Nation reserves.
