One-on-One
Individual Therapy
My Approach
My person-centered approach is influenced by the work of Carl Rogers and firmly rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Existential-Humanistic Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. Additionally, I incorporate aspects of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment therapy. I also use interventions based on schema therapy.

How does it work?
By focusing on thoughts/feelings and core beliefs we begin to get a sense of distorted cognitions or difficulites with emotions that contribute to day-to-day distress and difficulty. Incorporating behavioural interventions, cognitive balancing and reframing we can hope that eventually one’s self-talk begins to improve and mood improves with it.

Steps we take.
Techniques include: Thought records, behavioural activation, behavioural experiments, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness skills, etc.
